A darkly devious concoction of rich roasted and sweet mocha notes.

Very good malty flavor, thick body. Fruity, and a little sweet aftertaste. Very good imperial stout.

12 oz can from Scrooges in Anderson, SC ($3.09).
This is an odd imperial stout, with partially hidden ABV but a rather unattractive aroma and only modestly better flavor. The aroma seems a bit musty and earthy. It suggests a relatively heavy hop load which the flavor seems to confirm.
Overall. Disappointing offering from a reliable brewery. May be a bad sample.

Picked up a 12 oz can at the Appalachian Vintner in Asheville on 6-20-25 for $3.30. Canned approximately in April 2025, consumed for review 8-28-25. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured black with a nice off-white head.
Nose is a light touch of roasted malts along with some notes of faint coffee and chocolate.
Taste is a large malt base that gives me a flavor of coffee and dark chocolate. The roast and the hops bring a well-done balancing act leaving a perfectly balanced finish.
Mouthfeel is large bodied with each sip being very soft and smooth.
Overall, this is a really well done impy stout. Would have again as this can be had for a nice price.
