Into a tulipint glass, pours a clear gold with a really nice foamy head, settling into a nice residue on top, good lacing down the side. Aroma is of malty caramels, faintish hops, clean and true. Taste is similar to the aroma, sweet and clean malt profile, very smooth and creamy mouth, a lager I could actually drink numerous times, and is that a 7% ABV?, cause I sure didn't taste it, very well handled. Overall, a fine brew, their first lager I think, very nicely done, another winner from Barley Johns.

Originally reviewed March 21, 2007. On tap at the brewpub. Light banana ester froth aroma. Wispy. Pours heavily clouded, pale gold and with a rich banana-tinted foam. Flavor continues with a heavily estery flavor, bold in banana and wheat oils. Totally off-style. Tasty, but in right field. Toothy grain sugars bring up the background and fight with a body of yeast character. Not crisp, nor particularly balanced with good hop presence. For a Lager, itÂ’s a pretty good Belgian Pale Ale.
