Town Hall Smoked Hefe
Cloudy amber-gold colored beer with medium retention and no lacing. Strong smoked pepper notes in the aroma with no hints of the base beer. Taste, however, has more dimensions. Fruity sweet hefe to begin, followed by rather "green" chili flavors. Turns out it's actually brewed green! Definite heat at the back.

On tap at Town Hall Tap in hefe glass. Great orange color with thick white head, the way a hefe should look, but a bit deeper orange. Smells of crazy smoke. Tastes of crazy smoke, bacony, and citrus. While I am a big fan of hefe beers, I'm not a real big fan of smoked beers. But this isn't that bad. I'm glad I got it, but wouldn't get again.

I am not a smoked beer fan....and therefor this was my least favorite offering that was available at Town Hall. However, the brewer...nailed it. The combo of Heffe and smoke certainly raises eyebrows. The appearance was a cloudy yellow with thin white head. The scent was overpowered with smoke and some clove and slight citrus undertones. The taste was powered by smoke followed by slight spice of clove and a lemony citrus. The mouthfeel was good....just dont like smoke. Glad I tried it, but would never do a pint.

On tap at Town Hall Tap poured into a pint glass. This beer arrives a cloudy pale orange color. The head is a solid inch of bright white foam that recedes slowly leaving nice lacing. The aroma is of smoke, bacon, citrus, and banana. The taste is similar to the aroma. The smokiness of this beer about as strong as it could be without being overpowering, and I really like how that allows the character of the hefe to still be noticeable. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a chewy texture, and lively carbonation. Overall, this is a great beer that I will drink the hell out of every time I find it on tap.

A - pours a a cloudy, hazy yellow

S - smells of smoked malts, bacon, ham, and some sweet citrus

T - taste follows the nose well. Sweet, wheat malts and citrus flavors are up front. This is followed by a smoked meat and malt flavor. The two realms o this beer are blended together really nicely.

M - mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation

D - pretty solid smoked hefe. The flavors were well balanced for a smoked beer.

Huge fan of smoke beers, so I was naturally drawn to this one.

Served in a pint glass. A murky and cloudy yellow color. Not much in the way of head or lacing.

A rich bacony and campfire smoke dominates the nose. A touch of wheat and clove behind.

The smoke is the highlight here. Notes of clove and banana are there in true hefe form. Smoked bacon blends beautifully with the hefeweizen flavors. This is a great flavor combo.

Pretty dry, not a lot of carbonation, but it works. Medium bodied.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I don't think I could drink more than one, but I would absolutely get this one again. Nice beer.

Poured on tap into a pint glass.

A- Pours a murky yellow orange straw color, really nice lacing, well carbonated, one finger off white head.
S- The aroma is very nice, banana, clove, slight citrus, nice light smoked aroma, well balanced, wheat, malt.
T- A little disappointed with the taste, the banana, clove, citrus, taste comes out but the smoked characteristics take over this beer, peppery spice, smoked wood, slight bacon flavor, not my favorite.
M- Medium mouth feel, well carbonated, smooth and creamy drinking, smokey finish.
O- Overall this is not a terrible beer, it does what it’s supposed to do, but it’s not my favorite, big smokey flavor that really overpowered the other flavors in this beer.

Draft. Pours a slightly hazed straw color with a slight white head. The aroma is smoky but after that you also get some nice Belgian yeast (banana) and spice notes. Medium mouthfeel. The initial taste is smoky which transitions to a decent normal hef then back to smoke. The smoke lingers for a while. Overall, a nice beer with less smoke than other beers but a nice balance between the sweetness of a hef and he smoke of of a true smoke beer.

Pours 1/2 finger of white head. Color is hazed dirty straw yellow.

Aroma: Pretty much a hefe with light smoke. Bananas, cloves, wheat, and light orange peel.

Taste: Light smoke roast flavor with wheat. Orange peel with bananas and cloves. The smoke flavor is not overpowering and adds a really unique, but awesome flavor to this beer.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and creamy. Very refreshing. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends smokey.

Overall, very drinkable for something I was leery to try. A perfect amount of smoke to not overpower the hefe but add an awesome distinction to the beer. Very impressed with what TH did on this one.

a: the beer is a hazy golden amber in colour with a white head that shows good retention

s: the standard weizen base carries a moderate sweetness and aromas of green banana, lots of yeast and some light clove, subtle grassy hops

m: light-medium in body with a lively carbonation

t: wheaty (surprise!) body, nice level of hardwood smoke keeps good balance, underripe banana, some clove, nice and yeasty, grassy noble hops with a mild bitterness

my only complaint with this one is that some heavier banana ester and clove would really make a nice compliment to the smoke, though in this example they seem to be about average for the style

d: just fine, if an anticlimactic #1400

consumed on the brewpub patio

on-tap at the brewpub

cellphone notes

appearance: served in a standard pint - bright, yet hazy, golden-straw body, foamy white head

smell: clove, hefe yeast, fair amount of smoke, banana. I'm not sure i've ever smelled a beer quite like this one

taste: This tastes exactly how I imagined from just reading the name - The base hefe seemed quite strong with bananas, clove, sharp yeast and citrus. The smoke adds a little spice and depth to the flavor - unique for sure

mouthfeel: much like a hefe - lively and creamy, a touch of spice at the end

drinkability: good

A - Pours a hazy bright golden color with a sticky white head.

S - This is the beers strong point in my opinion. A great smoky malt scents followed by cloves, yeast, bannana, and mild lemon scents. Mostly malts are noticable especially as the beer warms.

T - A nice smooth smoked wood hits you at first. As the beer warms you notice smoky malts with hints of light cloves, bannana, and a mild hop flovor in the backdop of this beer.

M - Medium bodied beer with a nice mild bite to it. Goes down smooth and smoky just as it should.

D - Goes down smooth and tastes great! What else do you need? This is a great smoked beer and is really unique.
