it was only a matter of time before someone turned the haze craze into an ipl instead of an ipa, and who better than these guys, who make amazing beers across all styles. this looks like one of those pale juice bombs, yellow and cloudy but still with a glow in the glass and an inch of thick white head. it smells awesome, juicy tropical and citrusy hops with grapefruit and pineapple notes, and a crispness i am not used to in beers that look like this. while i cant really taste much of the lager yeast, i sure can appreciate its contribution to the feel of this, drying it out and giving it some snap at the end. in the east coast ipa types, i often miss the finish, not enough bitterness to make it feel like ipa, but here the lager yeast stands in for it and helps this finish in a really appealing way. the hops taste great too, really fresh and fruity, a little vegetal and overdone, but summery and appealing still. nice carbonation and smooth body, not as clean as most lagers obviously, but thats the point. the name is awesome, any dig you can take at the patriots is cool with me, and the beer in the glass is new and full of life. i am sure we will see more of these moving forward, but this is a great introduction to what i have to imagine will become a popular style before too long. well done.
