Pour at the hall

This was pretty decent, as a reluctant fan of weizen bocks - I enjoyed this trepidatiously. Alright enough of the big words - kinda sweet but this drinks pretty good

On tap at the brewpub. Poured into a 10 oz. goblet glass.

Appearance: Deep brownish amber orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About two fingers of off white head with decent retention. Good lacing is left on the glass.

Smell: Big yeasty aroma with lots of banana and clove. Good hints of bready malts with hints of caramel and toffee. Coriander and pepper spices. Hint of citrus orange. Also some subtle earthy hops lingering around. A little bit of alcohol is the smell. Very forward with the banana and spices.

Taste: Like the smell leads, a very banana and spice forward bock. Lots of bready yeast with a big taste of banana and clove with some coriander and pepper spice. Caramel malts with a hint of toffee. A little bit of orange and some light earthy hops. Also a light hint of vanilla. Again very banana ester and spice forward.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Creamy and slick with a light kick from the alcohol. Still very smooth.

Overall: A very good take on the Weizenbock style. Very fruity but the sweetness is kept in check well by the spices.

Pours a very hazy, dark orange with about a quarter-inch light tan head. The beer lightens up around the sides of the glass - a slightly more yellow version of its hazy-self. The nose is mostly clove with banana hiding behind the very spicy aromas best described as a rich wheat bread.

There is a more subdued version of all the scents in their flavor versions - perhaps less bready and less spicy. There is a decent amount of booze qualities especially in the mouthfeel, sort of bourbon-like, but not quite: warm and oily and with bits of cocoa, vanilla and caramel tones layered in the background. As it warms, the beer gives off more of the banana and clove flavors.

On-tap at the brewery, served in a 10oz straight-sided tulip. This batch is listed at 8.1%.

Cloudy copper-tinged redwood liquid, nearly opaque with an off white collar and faint crust. Fine lacing, poor retention.

Soft wheat cereal aroma with a touch of fruit - pleasant but weak.

Pleasing fruit and malt on the palate. Clove emerges as the beer warms. Light tartness comes out mid-palate and a smooth wheat-filled finish leads into a final bite from the alcohol.

Creamy, rich mouth-feel with low but adequate carbonation.

A decent, slightly hot rendition of the style.

Served in a pint glass a murky burnt orange with a thick cap of foam that leaves a few spots of lace.

The smell is all banana and clove. Big, fruity and mildly spicy. Smells very much like banana cream pie.

Oh yeah, the flavor is all banana and clove too. A little wheat in there, but it's nearly drowned out by the aforementioned flavors.

Chewy with creamy carbonation. Mediumish bodied.

A great example of the style. A very enjoyable beer that hides the alcohol extremely well. I would have this one again for sure.

Pours a beige head. Color is a caramel brown.

Aroma: wheat meet bock. Bananas, cloves, coriander and spice. Then caramel and chocolate malt. Awesome!

Taste: pretty much the nose but I taste cocoa now. I also get the raisins and vanilla. A decent amount of sweetness.

Mouthfeel: smooth and creamy. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

Overall, this was a great take on the style. Tasted very German. Well done and enjoyable.
