On tap late September at Howe Sound brewpub.

With the long, hot summer here in the pacific northwest, blueberries have been thriving. I don't know how often blueberry beers are made in these parts, but with how cheap they had become to buy this year... why not? This review is less detailed than normal as I was entertaining a visitor so did not take notes.

Appearance: Practically purple. There must be a lot of blueberry in this.

Aroma: Wow. You barely have to get near the glass and the smell of blueberry is so intense. Really inviting.

Taste: A lot of blueberry, giving way to a mixture of blueberry and the banana that you expect from a hefeweizen. Howe Sound brew an exceptional hefeweizen, so it is very pleasing to discover that they can pull this beer off without it just tasting like blueberry. I didn't detect any clove in the taste, but there is almost no sweetness from the berries. Tartness keeps that well in check, and considering how many blueberries they must have used in this, to produce a beer that does not become sweet like most fruit beers is remarkable.

Drinkability: Almost makes me wish it was summer all year round. So moreish.
