Had on tap at the brewery.
A: Pours black with a dime of tan head.
S: Roasted coffee and chocolate.
T: Sweet roasted malt, coffee and chocolate and lactose. Ahint of hop and coffee bitterness in the finish. This is truly a horrible tasting beer. The sugar in this does not taste like residual sugar, but rather table sugar mixed in before kegging. None of the flavors in this beer meld period.
M: Below average carbonation. Thick body.
O: This beer tastes so bad,I can only stomach a few ounces.

Had this on tap at Shoreline this afternoon. Poured black into a tulip with a small, half-finger head that dissipated to some fragmentary bits, nice lacing. On the nose I was really surprised not to get hit with huge coffee aromas right off hand. They were much more subtle and lurking underneath the caramel note that dominated the beer. In the mouth the caramel really came out but I missed some of the other stuff I was looking for, like coffee and chocolate. It was medium-thick, slightly sticky, and hauled a nice alcohol note with it. My 10 oz pour disappeared pretty quickly, and I moved on to other beers, but next time I go I'll order this for sure. Of all the beers I've tried at Shoreline, to me, this is the one to build a lineup around. Everything else is thinnish and average, with the one exception of the red ale, which I sampled and was a huge surprise.
