Heard a bartender say it is called Faux-liner Weisse cause it gets the tartness from only using acidulated malt. Sign behind bar says brewers used crystal hops and 4 IBUs. I'd be surprised if all the tartness in this came from only acidulated malt, though I haven't had much experience drinking beers with it.
A: Clear, straw-colored liquid with little to no head - more please!
S: Unfermented malt with slight sauvignon blanc aroma. A bit boring, but not bad.
T: Opens with some grain and slight tartness. Moves on to being fully tart with a highlight of unfermented grain. Tartness is similar to that of lemon juice.
M: Tart, expectorant
O: Nice low ABV beer for a change of pace, but this pales in comparison to other Berliner Weisses out there.
I tried a 50/50 Faux-liner Weisse and Ginger Crusher. It was superior to either of them solo. I'd rate the blend at 4.25
