On tap at Das Biergarten. Clear amber body. Smells of fruity hops. Like watermelon Jolly Rancher candy hops. Some caramel malt. Tastes of the same Jolly Rancher hops. Sweet and fruity. Some bready and toasty malt with a bit of bitterness. Medium body. Not what I expected at all. It's ok but not something I really enjoy.

American IPA takes on all forms- white IPA, black IPA, Belgian IPA, hazy IPA, west coast IPA and now a pale wheat IPA in the illustrious hands of Founders Brewing Company. And with the exclusive use of Cashmere hops, the uniqueness of flavors seem endless.
Citrus and tropical fruits abound as the first pass of the nose brings a bready and caramelized scent. Golden amber in color the ale crowns with a soft ecru froth before its first sip greets the tongue with the bready sweetness of granola and toasted whole wheat.
But the true character of the Cashmere hop variety hits a crescendo with the flavors of pink grapefruit, lime, cantaloup and peach that prevail after the wheaten sweetness of malt subsides. Juicy with apricot, mango and nectarine, the middle palate takes on a honey-like flavor for balance. Trending spicy with bitterness, the beer trails with pine, sassafras and black tea.
Medium bodied although on a drying track, the ale's lingering sweetness and breadiness add more support to the hops than are typical of IPA. Smooth and moderately bitter, the finish comes with a soft and resinous grip that extends into a woodsy, herbal and bittersweet afterglow.
