Double IPA bursting with peachy goodness. Fresh hop aroma up front and a smooth lingering finish.

On draft at Founders. Poured a slightly cloudy, golden orange color with a small, fluffy, white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of fresh, tart peaches, toasted caramel and some resin. Sweet peach taste with a subtle tartness. Nice toasted caramel backbone with some piney bitterness.

Brief Review:
O: So this is peach Double Trouble. Surprised to see this was brewed back in 2018, thought it was a new one. Pours clear, golden, just like regular DT. Taste is hugely sweet and sugary. Almost seems like lactose was added. Quite off-putting I must say. Must be due to using purée I imagine. The thick creamy mouthfeel is nice. Full blind, I’d almost certainly say this was a peaches and cream milkshake-style IPA. Since I don’t think that’s what they were actually going for, and since it’s way too sweet, I’m gonna give this a thumbs down.
Recommendation: Don’t be fooled by the tempting name and reputation of the mighty Double Trouble. This is a hideous mess.

Looks very plain and unassuming - nice golden color with virtually no head and minimal spotty lacing. Sampled this one on tap at Founders. Surprisingly faint peach smell, not much hoppy aroma. Tastes of peach, grain, malt and just a faint amount of pleasant hops. No bitterness at all. Smooth mild mouthfeel and good carbonation. A little disappointing - while it was tasty, it certainly didn’t pack the punch I was expecting from a double IPA. Peach and malt sweetness wasn’t at all overpowering, though, but rather very nicely restrained.

I’m not a big fan of ipas. They’re usually too hoppy and don’t do much for me. The peachy flavor makes this one unique, and it is not overly bitter. Delightful!
