Founders and Buffalo Wild Wings have partnered to offer up a new beer just in time for football season. 3rd and Lager is a beer that includes two of Founders' favorite hop varieties, Mosaic and Azacca, brewed into it's latest lager for a gorgeous tropical fruit aroma and flavor consisting of pineapple, mango, and papaya. The beer features a balance of malt sweetness with a slight hop bite, and has a smooth, clean finish. The beer was created as part of Buffalo Wild Wing's ongoing B-Dubs Brew Series.

16 ounce prowler into tulip glass, filled on 11/4/2018. Pours crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a small dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent fhop flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no yeasty notes present. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol for 5.9%. Overall this is an outstanding hoppy pale lager. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp/clean to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Amazing Mosaic/Azacca profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and lightly dank hops; great clean pils malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.

Very nice, clean, smooth ale sampled on tap at local bar. Nice clear golden color with some mild head and nice spotty lingering lacing. Smells of malt, fruity hops and caramel. Tastes similarly, along with some vanilla and biscuit. Smooth mild mouthfeel, just a little creamy. Great carbonation. Reminds me more of an IPA than a lager. Very sessionable. Well done!

Pours up to a moderate, lasting and lacing white head and slightly hazy yellow. Aroma is sweet clean malt and juicy hops. Flavor delivers on the aroma's promise with a balancing charge of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and carbonation acceptable. A satisfying and well made brew. Not sure if this is a very neutral ale or a lager. Doesn't matter.
