This IPA was brewed exclusively with a new hop varietal named Idaho Gem. Our Idaho Gems were grown in Idaho at Gooding Farms, and were generously given to us by our friend Diane Gooding for experimental use. These sticky hops are very unique with a bunch of different qualities ranging from floral and earthy (tobacco and cedar), to herbal (mint). The hop finishes with faint undertones of orchard fruits in the exhale. A solid malt backbone of British malts compliments this large hop bill to balance out in a smooth finish!

Fairly disappointing beer since this was listed as the featured brew at Founders. Tried this one on tap. Pours a medium copper-amber color with very minimal head or lingering lacing. Smells very faintly of some muddled hops without much malt. Tastes of a mixture of some citrus zest and floral hops with a trace of some piney hops. There’s also some malt, vanilla and bread in there but I’m curious as to why the tasting notes are so distant and thin. Thin mild mouthfeel with good carbonation. Not a particularly memorable IPA especially considering all of the other excellent offerings from this brewery’s vast selection.
