Wow. Now this is the best new beer I tried today on tap at Founders! Nice golden color with a little head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of some nice hops and malt. Tastes great - first, the citrus hops, mainly orange, passionfruit, grapefruit, lemon. Then there’s some mild floral and piney hops, good vanilla and caramel and a nicely-balanced malt backbone. And the addition of the honey was amazing - and they thankfully backed off the malt in order to keep the sweetness balanced with the mild bitterness of the hops. I don’t know if it’s because the honey slightly coats your throat, or its smell and taste is associated with getting over an illness, or just because Michigan honey is amazing in and of itself. But this beer was so well-balanced. Smooth, slightly creamy mouthfeel, great carbonation. Higher ABV was very well-hidden. An outstanding beer.
