Quite fantastic. Served on tap at the pub in a snifter. Copper with a finger of off white foam. Quite a sipper: thick, syrupy, and sweet, with lots of oak and booze - with just the slightist warming. Vanilla, caramel, and just enough citrus to remind you an IPA is lurking in the glass.

Look: richer golden orange yellow, little lace and almost no bubbles.
Smell: Honey and...molasses? Salt?
Taste: doesn't really follow the smell, in that it's not as sweet or as salty as I thought. Good malt backbone. Candied fruits, dates.
Feel: I was about to say that the alcohol is well-hidden, but then I realized my tongue is still tingling. Thick and syrupy.
Overall: reminds me of Dogfish's 120, Burton's Baton, etc. Strong, almost an old ale. Tingly, in the way that too much pineapple or celery can numb up your tongue. But I'd put it up against Dogfish any day. Worth a shot if you're in Grand Rapids.

Pours Amber. Short, bubbly white head that fades immediate.
Smells fruity, pine, floral, bourbon, oaky, vanilla and light candied fruit.
Tastes bourbon, vanilla, fruity, floral, Oaky, candied orange, Carmel And light alcohol. This is a really nice blend. Finishes dry with a bourbon linger. Medium body and creamy medium carbonation.

Wow this was a great, woody, hop bomb that really was a pleasant surprise. Tried this one on tap at Founders. Pours a deeper amber color with some minimal white head and a little spotty lingering lacing. Smells faintly of some fruity hops, honey, malt and oak. But the taste was very forthcoming and upfront - loads of oak, bourbon, malt, caramel, vanilla, sweeter fruity hops and just a little trace of honey and brandy. Amazingly smooth and nice slightly creamy mouthfeel. Just enough carbonation. More warming alcohol as the beer sat for a little while, but despite the high ABV this beer doesn’t have to be sipped that slowly. It’s luscious, flavor-packed and sensuous.
