Very Good
Unraveled IPAUnraveled IPA
Notes: Formerly 'Mothership Series #7: Mucho Lupu'

We unraveled some of our favorite American hops to get to the juicy goodness inside. Dry hopped with traditional hop pellets along with lupulin powder, an innovative hop product that separates lupulin from the hop flower, Unraveled IPA is incredibly flavorful and aromatic. Wheat and oats form a smooth backdrop to carry all those wonderful hop characteristics, while the pour is beautifully clear.

Hops: Amarillo, Azacca, Mosaic and Simcoe

Drinks like a hybrid of an IPA and a Hefeweizen. Interesting combination that seemed odd at first, but became more successful as it warmed and slowly won me over.

Unraveled IPA pours a darker copper, hazy color, with a small, long lasting, lacing head. Aroma is very earthy. Flavor is bold, earthy, bitter. Good body and feel. Overall, mix between a hazy and west coast IPA, a bit off and strange.

Canned on 12/28/21
Opened and reviewed on: 5/5/22

Only the slightest haze within gold and orange colored hues. Chunky white foam cap and lace is pretty right on.

Nose: Mix of herbs and medium to light malted grains with a pine, citric and high toned fruity tang style smell.

Feel & Flavor: Crispy crackers feeling and flavored malt tones. Herbal and grainy with low level citrus, high toned earthy pine in the hops. Juicy and dry in equal parts.

Overall: A very high end, grocery store grab. Does the truck everytime. I'd like to say "mids" but it's one notch above that.

A- The tallboy pours into a narrow tulip glass with a mostly clear pale golden body. The head quickly rises to two fingers high with a puffy and frothy consistency. Great head retention with spotty lacing and a couple of large sheets.

S- Hops are strong and bring a nice variety to the nose in what is a well balanced hop profile. Candied citrus, pineapple, dankness, onion, weed, slight stone fruit, a bit tropical, melon and a touch of berries. Suggest a medium sweetness with some floral and herbal hints.

T- Like the aroma, it has a well rounded hop profile and rather than listing intense specific notes it is a balanced mix of different hop categories. Opens up dank and herbal with strong floral and pineapple notes. Orange, grapefruit, scallion and candied citrus. Sweetness is moderately low in the end with a very slight caramel hint.

MF- Medium bodied slightly towards the light side with a moderate level of carbonation. Puffy textured and it ends somewhat dry with an herbal bitterness. Really smooth and almost chewy.

Kind of in between the classic West Coast IPAs and the new juice bombs. Really well balanced and clean but it feels like it lacks that signature flavor/aroma of a specific thing to shape everything else around.

Is this well-balanced, or merely “everything in mediocrity”? A bit of tangerine and mango up front, but more bitter than expected from the name. Grapefruit, piney resin, and an unusual malt mix with a hint of sweetness. Spritzer-like and a dry finish. How can something be too sweet and too bitter at the same time without being overly sweet or bitter? It’s ok, but just doesn’t really come together in a way I personally find particularly enjoyable.

Pours a hazy golden straw color with a tight smallish white head.

The aroma is of mango and grapefruit; some melon. Nice fresh aroma. I pick up a slight onion savory note.

The taste is more melon and tropical fruit. Mango and passion fruit. A bit of pepper in the finish. A full spectrum of hop flavors in this one. The malt is soft and sweet.

The feel is moderate with prickly carbonation. Hoppy and malt sweetness on the palate. Enough bitterness to balance out the beer. Quite nice.

A nice array of hop flavors in this brew. Perhaps a tad sweet but very drinkable.

Good solid IPA. Poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass. This beer features a hazy gold color, good carbonation, a fairly big foamy white head and thick foamy lacing on the glass. Aroma and taste include some citrus and tropical fruit (mostly grapefruit and pineapple) and a moderate amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel is rich enough and fairly bitter but still very drinkable even for non-hop-heads. Good flavor and drinkability, I would enjoy more of these!!!!

Pours a hazy yellow with a decent white head, fades quickly leaving a nicely laced glass.
Very aromatic, pineapple, grapefruit and hint of lemon, the taste reflects the aroma but it's not so pronounced. It has a nice feel, good carbonation. By the time I finished this, the sweetness went off the charts. It will not replace Centennial!

Hazy orangish-yellow, thin white head, decent retention and lace
Pineapple, grapefruit, and dank aroma
Flavor reflects aroma,
Feels a bit thin
Not sure how I feel about this one. If it hadn't been labeled "juicy", I'd probably give it better marks

12oz can poured into a tulip

A- pours a bright clear yellow with a one finger foamy white head that has great retention and leaves some lacing behind

S- grapefruit zest, orange pith, pine needles, bready malt

T- juicy citrus notes of tangerine and grapefruit up front, followed by undertones of pine and zest. The finish gives a bready malt undertone with more citrus in the linger

M-medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a crisp finish

12oz can into a tall beer flute.
L: Pours a fairly clear chill hazed pale gold straw color. Medium carbonation. Thin soapy white head with fair edge retention.
S: Honey, wild flowers, lightly caramelized malts.
T: Medium sweet apricots, tangerine, orange, grapefruit. Well hopped and there is light resin/bitterness in the medium finish.
F: Juicy, hop forward and fortified but the hops aren't too aggressive and brisk with a medium bodied mouthfeel. It is lightly soft towards the end.
O: A very easy drinking hoppy IPA for it's 6.6%ABV and simply an excellent example of a contemporary American IPA.

Poured a 12 ounce can into my 17 ounce Belgium tulip glass..Got got a nice carbonated fluffy white 2 finger head, with a tangerine, candied mango profile that drank very smooth..

This is a nice beer, it isn't a NEIPA, but a very fruity bursting American ipa that has alot more tropical fruit notes than I'm use to.. After my first can i will tell you that this is a quality brew that will make it's way into my rotation..6.6% abv with absolutely no alcohol burn, and goes down smooth..Cheers.
