-Old Ale brewed with Molasses aged in Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrels.
A: Light ice tea coloring has some mahogany tones with backlighting. Light tan head is small in statue and weak in structure, not uncommon for a massive beast of this abv% and style. Small or minimal lacing.
S: Big scents of maple syrup and molasses. Rich and deep and very enticing in nature with a warming of bourbon and licorice. The bourbon and maple syrup blends beautifully together, is well balanced and none the indicator of the measured abv%.
T: Thick, sweet, and syrupy flavor, full of bourbon, molasses, and sugary fig sweetness. Caramel-toffee with a warming of wort sugars, barrel wood, and spicy rum-raisins. Gentle bourbon breath comes on the finish, the alcohol very well tamed, balanced, and complimentary to this finely tuned beer.
M: Nice, thick syrupy body, the molasses influence being clearly evident, with the spicy warmth of the maple syrupy and bourbon barrel wood on the inner cheeks. Great fullness, moderated carbonation, and just a great big feel and hold overall.
O: Beautiful balance and blending of the bourbon, molasses, and maple syrup influence. Much great harmony of the ingredients creates a big drinking impression with notes of sugary figs, and a smooth drinkability. A world class first impression and one that lasts to the very last sip.

Additional aging (3 years) doesn’t improve Better Half. There’s a noticeable fading of the molasses and maple.
