32 ounce howler filled at brewery 15 days ago. Kept cold since. Poured into proper glassware for maximum taste.
Pours a deep dark brown, smallish head (which I’m accounting based on the time spent in a growler, so I won’t knock it much) garnet highlights. Darker and more rich in color than regular BWB.
Big nose of bourbon and wood, overall richness. Dark fruits, dark rum. First whiff reminded me of a bourbon cocktail.
Bourbon candy, smooth bourbon, vanilla, coconut, caramel, cola. All the flavors of BWB but at a richer, heightened level. So smooth, no heat or booze from start to finish.
A touch thin. Not sure how the alcohol drops .2% at 5 years in a barrel but some of the body dropped out too.
BWB used to be a favorite seasonal before it went year round. This brings back some of the nostalgia of the intense but smooth flavor characteristics.
