DIPA brewed with seven hop varieties and a huge malt backbone. Resinous hop character with a sticky sweet finish.

Look: A bit more lacing, and a bit darker than Founder's 12 Feet Under.
Smell: Very dank and resin-y hops.
Taste: Dry dry dry. More hop-forward than 12 Feet Under, which makes sense as this is brewed with seven different hop varieties. Sticky sweet, but also dry.
Feel: Again, almost a lip-smacking hop dryness. But goes down very easy; not as thick and resinous as 12 Feet Under or Devil Dancer.
Overall: A great example of a West Coast style IPA, especially when compared with Founder's "Easy Squeezy" NE IPA. Easier drinking than some of their heavier barrel-aged varieties...but it's still 8.2% so be careful. Great portrayal of the style.

Nice imperial IPA sampled on tap at Founders. Could have been more bright and hoppy but still was easy to drink and enjoy. Pours a slightly darker golden color with a little cap of white head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of some muddled fruity hops, malt, vanilla, caramel and maybe a touch of bread. Taste follows the nose - the flavors opened up more as the beer warmed. Grapefruit, orange, lemon, pineapple. Hops were still a little muddled and not bright, and there was a little too much sweet malt that overshadowed any bitter bite from the hops. Higher ABV was well hidden, though. Smooth, mild, very slightly sticky mouthfeel and good carbonation. Tasty and easy to drink. Just wish it were more focused and balanced.
