From tasting notes 10/10/17, had on-tap at Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids, MI
Appearance - Served up in a nonic pint, cola brown in color with a thin, broken layer of suds. Good amount of lacing with some broken sheeting and some spotting.
Smell - Aroma is light and chocolatey with a hint of earth.
Taste - Follows the nose. Moderate chocolate flavor with a hint of nutty earthiness. Finishes much the same, though the flavor balances out some.
Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium body with fair carbonation. Slick, smooth and utterly chuggable brew.
Overall - Simple, but a well-crafted classic American Brown. The flavor won't blow you away, but it's clean and incredibly drinkable.

On tap at Founders brewpub on 11/29/08. Served in a 12-oz. glass.
A - Clear medium brown body with a short off-white head that receded and left little lacing. Modest carbonation overall with nice body clarity.
S - Hmmmm... not much at all except for some sweet malty notes and faint nuttiness. Pretty bland aroma.
T - Again, pretty ho-hum and boring, even for a brown ale, which I typically find pretty pedestrian anyway. Flavor consists of some sweet caramel malt and a slight nutty character with no noiticeable hop presence.
M - Pretty thin and watery for a brown ale. Kind of reminds me of what "swish" would feel like in my mouth.
D - Definitely a less than stellar offering from Founders, I'm afraid. The best thing about this beer was the tap handle.
Editor's note: We were surprised and delighted to take notice of the tap handle for this selection, which depicted Julian, Bubbles and Ricky, aka The Trailer Park Boys... one of my favorite TV shows! The "Swish" refers to a homemade alcohol that Julian gets hooked on in one episode.
