Brief Review:
O: Little late to the pumpkin beer here in December (though my review of the last Founder’s pumpkin beer was a bit late too in November). That other one was Pumpkinmudgeon, a pumpkin-spiced Curmudgeon I believe. Founder’s is always hesitant to get into the seasonal game, though they’ve stepped it up lately with this and Oktoberfest. They actually did a nice job with this. It’s comparable to Griffin Claw’s Screamin’ Pumpkin as in its a true pumpkin ale with spices added (some aren’t). It’s really balanced, seasonal, drinkable. Good mouthfeel. Not overly spiced, which is nice. So, good on Founder’s for getting in the game, albeit a little late. Maybe they bottle it next year in the Mothership series? I’d like that.
Recommendation: Might be out of season now, but if you see it next Fall, go for it as it’s one of the best pumpkin beers in the state.
