Serving: 22 oz. bomber poured into a Founder's tap room pint glass. Bottled on 11/23/20 (#26/160), making this about 2.5 months old.
A: Pouring out a little thin here unfortunately. Dark brown with a slight red hue up to the light. Minimal carbonation and off-brown head.
S: Get a little graham cracker, some german chocolate. Hops are mild. Almost no marshmallow.
T: Graham cracker and chocolate less noticeable in the flavor as it comes across a little more harsh and bland. Drinks like a porter or black ale, but no adjuncts noticeable except possibly a little extra chocolate or cocoa.
M: Very thin here, almost watery. Minimal carbonation. Also a slight metallic off-flavor on the finish too.
O: Here's the deal, this isn't Founder's as we know it. Yes, this is a a super cool and limited release from them (a variant on a very popular beer, only 160 bottles), but this is from the Detroit taproom and something ain't right there. Porter is the #1 porter in the world, and this beer is a slap in the face to it. For starters, the adjuncts and variant on it are like nowhere to be seen. And then it's just a thinner and more watery version of the amazing, robust porter we know and love. It's like a really lame black ale from a new brewery trying to get off the ground.
Recommendation: There aren't many of these bottles in the wild, but by no means should anyone actively seek this out unless you are one of the biggest Founder's fans (like myself).
