Bottled 1/16/21. Bottle #34 of 279.
The cherry blows everything away on this upon opening. It’s all I got on the nose, and it was all I tasted as well at first, with the slightest hint of buttery bourbon lingering on my tongue afterward. The bourbon really made its presence felt as this warmed, so that was welcomed.
I definitely could’ve used more vanilla. Perhaps itfaded due to how long I waited to pop this one.

Brief Review:
O: Interesting beer here from the Detroit taproom. Supposed to be a take on the ole’ Rock N Rye. It’s not bad. A little thin, bourbon could be stronger, but the flavors are nice. The non-BA stuff from Detroit has been sketchy, but the BA stuff is pretty good.
Recommendation: Don’t think this is too scarce, so it’s worth a try if you can grab a bottle.

1 PINT 9.4 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a snifter
This beer pours a blood orange color and is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
Bourbon, oak , and cherry hit the ole schnoz first. The vanilla is released as it warms a bit. It has kind of a boozy aroma.
Cherry is upfront. The bourbon rushes in followed by oak flavor. Vanilla comes alive in the back end. It has a dry finish.
Medium bodied with a syrupy feel upfront and a dry mouthfeel on the ass end.
It is an interesting beer. The vanilla and cherry seem to be subdued due to the barrel aging. I had to try it. Now if Founders does a Grape or Peach Faygo beer I will be all over that like flies on a rib roast.
