My first ever gruit and probably my last as I really didn’t like this and I don’t see it’s appeal. Nonetheless, I tried to be objective.
Pours a beautiful red wine color with a finger of pink fizz quickly bubbling away and leaving no residual lacing or ring. Aroma is crazy spice, ginger, clove, and other assorted spices with maybe a blueberry undertone.
Taste was… something else. Crazy spices and herbal notes. Almost like I was drinking some kind of cold, carbonated herbal tea. Nothing like I have ever tasted. Way too earthy and spicy and dry for me personally. Feel is crisp and refreshing but extremely dry like a wine.
Overall, I don’t like it. But I’m sure Founders know what’s up when it comes to style guidelines so I rated it as average, even though I took 3 sips and dumped it.
