A festive take on Blushing Padre, this raspberry Belgian ale was aged in tequila barrels before being hit with enough cranberries and orange zest to make any mouth feel merry this holiday season. Blushing Claus presents a pleasant yet slightly aggressive tartness alongside the existing tequila and raspberry sweetness – making it the perfect beer for anyone who made the nice list this year. Blushing Claus has an ABV of 11.9%.

Pours a bright raspberry red with a finger of pink foam quickly reducing to a still liquid. Nose is raspberry, cranberry, lime, lemon, salt, and barrel. Taste follows suit. Very complex and full bodied. Lots going on but it all blend effortlessly with the tequila barrel for an excellent beer experience. Feel is crisp and refreshing.

Brief Review:
O: Blushing Padre left a bit to be desired as the first Blushing Monk variant. But fear not, Founder’s has come back strong with a Christmas variant here in Blushing Claus. The tart and sweet cranberry and orange additions really smooth out the rough Tequila edges. Beautiful, full mouthfeel. One of the better Christmas beers I’ve had in a while.
Recommendation: A beautiful Christmas beer and hopefully one to return next year.
