Absolutely gorgeous beer.

Aroma and flavor deliver all the notes of OG Founders Imperial Stout, along with the booziness of the barrels. It's slightly less rich and more acidic, likely from the cognac barrel influence. While it adds complexity, it doesn't improve the richness. Quite nutty (in a good way). Still delivers the boozy chocolate banana smoothie impression of the original.

Overall, an absolutely delicious brew, and a worthy take on the OG, if not necessarily an improvement.

Poured stout black with a short but persistent mocha colored head that left scant lacing.
So far so good. Aroma, sorry all, my nose is out of order for the time being.
The taste; I never did find out what the base stout for this is, but I know it's not their RIS or what they but in the barrels for KBS. It's a different beast altogether.
The coffee and cocoa are very present, as well as the roasted malts, dark fruits and toasted bread. No harsh doesn't equate to sweet at all, it's almost savory. I don't think I've ever had cognac so can't tell if that is what I'm tasting instead of the typical bourbon barrel touches. There is definitely a barrel presence here, I simply can't define it.
The feel may be a touch thinner than I expected, but I sipped it nonetheless.
OA, I'd imagine if you are a fan of cognac and like stouts, this is your dream beer. I certainly enjoyed it.

This is great! Perfect head and lacing. The base stout is evident in the aroma, overlaid by the bourbon barrel and the more prominent cognac barrel. Taste is rich and follows the nose. The mouthfeel is very smooth. Highly recommend!
