Listed as an American IPA I found it to be something all-together different...
Liked the orange coloration though there was no head to it, and the smell was very light to my nose. Mouthfeel was medium-bodied with a light tack on the tongue. But what surprised me most was the taste - I found this to be more of a dessert beer - with the sweetness all over the place. The can does say fruited ale, but it's listed as an IPA, all I know is that I was pleasantly surprised...

It might look 'fine' and smell 'ok' but the taste absolutely ruins it. Sickly sweet, fruit punch, chemical/metal flavors. Worse than Voodoo Ranger Juice Force or Tropical Beer Hug, I sure hope that's not the direction Founders is trying to go. Couldn't finish it, 100% drain pour. I'll probably just chuck the other two from the mix pack right in the bin. That's what you get from a 'Fruited ale' style malt beverage.

I got a couple of cans of this beer from a mixed 12pck that I bought from my local meijer store. It poured a hazy golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had mild berry notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet malt base and strawberry and pineapple smoothie presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear yellow amber color with a small head of foam. The head has fades super quick leaving a touch of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – As the name would suggest the aroma is strongest of a tropical fruit smell with tons of pineapple and notes of tangerine and mango. Along with these smells comes notes of peach and a touch of apricot.
Taste – The taste begins with a massive sweetness with a tons of pineapple and other flavors of tangerine, mango, papaya, and peach. The taste is cloyingly sweet, with nothing to really balance out the fruit juice flavors of the brew. The fruit flavors control the extent of the flavor with only a very light level of floral and herbal hop present, and only light hints of any really malt. The super sweet and syrupy tastes take the taste to its end, leaving a artificial tropical soda pop like taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is moderately thick and syrupy with an average carbonation level.
Overall – Awful. I am rather disappointed in Founders on this one. I could not even finish the can. An unfortunate drain pour brew.

Fruit Beer
Ok, it's not often, hardly ever actually, I have to be negative. However, this is nothing but WAY too sweet, like syrupy, slick, gross type sweet. How did this ever make it to the can??!!!

Pours a mostly clear golden color with a sudsy white head that provides moderate lacing and leaves a doily of a cap on the beer.
The nose has bright pineapple and lime aromas, and the taste follows, though it’s a little sweeter than expected.
The mouthfeel is on the lighter side, which actually makes it more drinkable. Not a bad summer beer, but not something to seek out, IMHO.

Foam dissipates quickly into whisps. Smells of pineapple and peaches. Tastes like canned peach syrup, including the can. Feels a little thinner than it tastes, and is nice and tingly. Pretty good, but too sweet for my taste.

This one is also from the mixed twelve pack. Super sweet in the nose with pineapple and berry. The sweetness is intense enough to seem artificial tasting in both the nose and taste. This comes at you a little wild, dropping flavor everywhere, but also seeming bigger than the six percent abv. I get pineapple and coconut and general fruit and flowers but the carbonation isn't tight and it comes off a little sloppy for a brewery like Founders. Not really bad, just a bit raw and unrefined.

The aroma is malty and hoppy with a sweet fruit candy backing. The appearance is deep gold with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma with a cloying quality. The palate is smooth. Overall a quality beer just not my thing.
