Deep gold approaching amber color. Crystal clear. Moderate head that lasts and leaves wider streaks on the glass.
Very earthy aroma. Reminds me of when I crushed a paper wasp nest—it has an ashen, burnt paper smell.
The start is smooth with a toasted nut/toasty bread flavor. It has rich body enhanced by the lower carbonation level. The finish, though, mimics the smell and brings a contrasting harshness to the swallow. Here, it’s more like burnt stew than hop bitterness. I find it distracting.
