I was pretty happy when I made my first trip to the JHBH in Framingham MA to be told by our server that their new Raspberry Imperial Stout had just been put on. I figured that would make for a great dessert.
Came to me post-meal, black as night with no light being able to pass through it whatsoever. Thick tan head that left a trail of lace in its wake. Aroma was very chocolatey with a good touch of raspberry sweetness. Very similar to Weyerbacher's offering, however this was a tad sweeter. If this had a bit less of the sweet raspberry flavor, it would have been nearly perfect. It was excellent anyway. Very chocolatey and roasty as well. Mouthfeel was heavenly, creamy and smooth with just the smallest amount of carbonation to remind me that I was not drinking melted chocolate bars drizzled in raspberry syrup.
One of their best offerings to date...I only wish the location in Wayne would make something similar.
