After reading JHBH's description of this brew I was excited to try it. "The hoppiness of an IPA and the malt character of...uh, something malty." Something like that. Not exactly what I got, though I could see what they were shooting for. The beer was a reddish amber in color, but there was little in the aroma. A bit of hops and cherry, but it was very difficult to pick up. The flavor is well-hopped, but leaves you wishing there was more. It gets to that point where your mouth starts to pucker with hop bitterness, only to fade away. What is left is a fruity malt flavor that is rather nice, but I wanted more hops. All in all a good beer, but I could ask for just a bit more balance in the flavors.
