This pours a dark brown, brief tan head formation with no retention or lacing. Nose is artificial mango and brackish water - not much else is able to make it through. Taste is something else. At first, big, slightly sour notes of mango juice and mango candy. Certainly plays on the sweet end, but doesn't play overly so. The other flavor in here is...interesting. There is long, distinct gelatin note, along with a touch of sweetness. Like, if you suck on a piece of licorice and let all the sugar seep out, and you've got a kind of fatty, greasy, chewy wad of candy left - that's what the main flavor and finish of this beer is. The finish is incredibly long, too - it's inescapable and coats your whole mouth. The greasy, meaty gelatin feel really hangs around and gets a melted candle feel after awhile. Carbonation is light. Overall, I wouldn't call this beer that pleasant, but I like Dugges and I like that they're willing to do interesting things while still making their product recognizably beer.
