My local liquor store just started stocking 5 new beers from this brewery, so I bought one of each. This is the first one I opened and can only hope the others are better than this.

The beer comes in a .5 l brown bottle with some inexplainable numbering system on the back lable that I assume tells you the freshness date or best before date if you know how to decipher it.

The beer pours a rich golden orange color with a full 3 finger head, but the head forms large bubbles like what you would see in packaging envelopes that kids like to pop, and it recedes almost as fast as it forms leaving not even a rim of foam and no lacing whatsoever.

There is not a lot of smell to this. Just a bit of grain and some sweet biscuity malt. A pretty typical lager smell with no skunkiness.

Wow is this beer sweet! Not a thick, syrupy sweet, and not a sweetness from ripe fruit, but the kind of sweetness you get when you put too much sugar in your coffee but you drink it anyway. The sugary taste kills off any other flavor that might be in here. I didn't care for it at all.

The mouthfeel is medium and the beer has a rather low to medium carbonation. The finish is more sugar with a bit of alcohol on the way down. For the most part the 8% alcohol is well hidden in the taste but it is definately in there as it sent my head spinning after just one bottle. Between the high sugar and high alcohol I can't see drinking more than 1 bottle of this at a time. I can only hope the other 4 offerings from this brewery are better than this one.

Appearance – This lager is orange in color, a little on the lighter side of the spectrum, with a wonderful, full head that pitted quite well. It’s one of the better ESLs that I’ve seen.

Smell – The grainy malt is mixed with a good but serious whiff of alcohol and some orangey sweetness.

Taste – The grain gets a bit sharper at the taste, hurting the overall rating of this beer. The sweetness is a bit much as well.

Mouthfeel – This is medium-bodied with a small alcohol sting and good carbonation.

Drinkability – I liked some aspects of this beer but the overall flavor profile left me cold. As we say in BA Land – it was good except for the taste.

Poured into a flared pilsner flute. Pale yellow, fizzy lager. Two fingers of foam that fades fast. Vegetal algae aroma, butter, stale in general.

Flavors take a backseat to the astringency and mildly fusel alcohol notes. Sweetness level is out of whack. Corn with grain husks and butterscotch is all I get. Vague apple in the aftertaste suggests some type of yeast was used to brew this. It's unbalanced, and borderline offensive to my mouth. The aftertaste hangs around for too long, when it should finish crisp and clean. Watery, and bland overall. Avoid this one, even if it is under $2.

500 ml bottle, no date notched on the back label of the bottle for freshness. The beer pours a light gold color, with a very small white head. It smells like corn, grain and some malt, not impressive at all. It tastes like sweet malt, grain and a little bit of alcohol, it's more sweet than bitter. It tastes like a typical macro lager, with that being said it is non-offensive but it's not good either. Mouthfeel is light/medium, and it doesn't go down bad. Drinkability is OK and the alcohol is well hidden, but there isn't much else going on with this beer. It's not bad to try once, but I can't see any reason to buy this one again. Luckily I only bought one bottle.

Picked up a bottle on a whim from an international grocer. Poured an ordinary yellow color similar to American-style lagers. Almost no head was seen.

Syrupy sweet with a spicy carbonation to it.

Spicy aroma with hints of alcohol.

Carbonated and light feel to it.

Nothing special and not really a beer I wanted to finish.

Does this brewery do anything different? Pours a medium, slighly dark gold color, nice head. Lots of visible carbonation in the beer. Not a lot going on in the nose, light malt and alcohol. Taste is very sweet and syrupy, alcohol is grossly obvious. Probably the worst of the bunch, even though there isn't that much differet between the beers from this brewery.

500ml bottle poured into a standard pint glass.

A - Pale yellow, thin soapy head, nothing appealing here.

S - Sweet malts and sugar cane, not a bad aroma at all.

T - Egads! This is a sweet mess, think of what it would taste like if you were drinking liquid sugar, and throw some alcohol in it. No redeeming tastes.

M - Thick consistency, but not a really heavy body, mild carbonation.

D - No thanks, I couldn't finish this bottle, nothing to see here, this isn't the beer you're looking for, move along.

Sampled on 7-10-09

Pours a hazy golden color, with a short-lasting fizzy white head that fades completely away, leaving no lacing.

Smell is sweet and boozy, very malt liquor. A little bready, and quite sharp.

Taste is exactly as expected, malt liquor with a slightly vegetable aftertaste. At least the alcohol isn't offensive.

Mouthfeel is thin but syrupy, and sticks to the palate.

Drinkability is decent, if your goal is drunk.

Overall, at least I got to try a Lithuanian beer.

Appearance - pours a hazy lemon yellow. Two fingers of head shoot up quick then fall back about as fast. White bubbles with a creamy, soapy look; they have a bit of lacing here and there, very sparse.

Aroma - what can the Sammy glass do for the sniff? Not enough. Very heavy, husky grain with a forboding alcohol blanket.

Taste - about like the nose. Husky wet grains, the Euro equivalent of malt liquor. A smooth alcohol note mid-palate fllowed by a weak attempt to balance, but the hops are heavily outnumbered. A late grain sweetness is palatable, coupled with a distinct booziness at least makes the finish reasonable. This beer doesn't know how close it is to DP.

Mouthfeel - medium carbonation, blah body, losing steam here...

Drinkability - Even at a buck a bottle I wouldn't buy ths again. if this is all they have in Lithuania, then I suppose they can train the palate to like it.

Not too bad, this strong lager can almost be considered a malt liqour. Poured a translucent orangish gold color with a nice white head that settled in a thin lacing with rapid carbonations upon pour and slowly diminishing. Nice carbonation with a alcohol-laced full bodied mouthfeel. Aromas of fruity citrus with sweet malts, and alot of alcohol.

An eye-catching bottle at the store pulled me in, and at $1.70 for a 500ml – why not give it a shot?

And a good beer to boot! Pour was clear straw yellow, minimal white head – some streams of lace around the glass.

Standard aroma of cooked veggies and mashed corn. But the quaff was pleasantly surprising and tasty. Full set of malts, slightly sweet and phenolics. A hearty and rich brew with just a hint of orange. Crisp and dry in the finish, no hint of a 8% abv. A very nice Euro Lager to sip on while BBQing some T-bones.

I’d have another, or two.

Poured from an interesting looking bottle into a pint glass, beer is a pale golden color with a two-finger, white, soapy head. Smell is primarily sweet with pale malt and grain, a slight presence of alcohol. The taste is consistent with the nose, slightly sweet with pale malt... not much else going on here; alcohol is well covered, that's about all I can say good about it. The mouthfeel is very light and has almost no carbonation. This beer is somewhat drinkable, but I would go out of my way to get something different.

Golden apricot in appearance. Head dissapates quickly and small lace remains around the edges of the glass.
Aroma is distinct corn syrupy Eastern European, with hints of black licorice and no hops to speak of.
Intense sweetness on the lips leads to a cidery, syrupy flavor with a dry finish. Slight hop bitterness in the back.
Body is similar to someone with lots of plastic surgery: unnatural and pretending to be something its not. No complexity to speak of. Reminds me of some bad homebrew I tasted at a competition.
Terrible aftertaste.
I might give this to some malt-liquor drinking friends as a sort of step up, but I'm not sure it would be a step up. Good for getting drunk or cleaning out the sink.

Oversize single bottle purchased at Spirits Unlimited in Red Bank. $1.79 for a Half Liter 0f an 8% brew, not too shabby.

Pours a pale gold with a short lived two finger white head that leaves some scant lacing. Smells like one would expect - that biscuity sweet malt and leafy Heineken like hop smell only more pronounced. Smells decent overall. No Green bottle funk and skunk.

Taste is ripe fruit and sweet biscuity malt then some alcohol and then strong bittering hops and more alcohol and then some more pale malty/corn syrupy sweetness and a short dry finish. Overall balanced and surprisingly refreshing, albeit alcoholic Strong Euro. Heineken or Amstel on Steroids.

Mouthfeel is on the heavier side of medium, with tingly carbonation, and a slick oilyness that allows the brew to cling to the palate for a brief spell.

This is a decent beer. Not one that is distinctive, but fun to review and to share with a crossover candidate that swears BMC is the Shizitz.
