A boozy bourbon character, and some apricot. Sounded better than it tasted. A bit sugary sweet, like the sugar they put in to preserve fruit salad. Thanks Jason B. A good sharer on a cold night.

Look: A dark amber-orange beer with a head that hangs around for a few minutes and then leaves a bit of fine lacing around the edge of the glass (tulip glass).
Smell: Incredibly strong aroma that increased as the beer warmed up. Definite alcohol and whiskey smell, followed by smooth, sweet apricot, peachiness and similar fruit.
Taste: Woof! First thing you notice is the effect of the whiskey barrel aging. You get the alcohol front and center, with the flavor of toasted oak and the whiskey, which is incredibly smooth. Then you get the apricot dry dock is known for, which is definitely on the sweet, sugary side of things. No notable hop presence, and any malting fights the barrel aging for palate control.
Feel: Medium body, a bit on the slicker side with super fine, minimal carbonation. No popping fizz or anything like that, just enough bubbles to give it some character.
Overall: Pretty good beer, and definite whiskey barrel presence. Would not hesitate to sip another one, but also wouldn't specially seek out unless I had a friend who was a whiskey lover and wanted to bring them over to "the beer side".
