This is exactly the beer I have been hoping for from this brewery (or any other in San Diego). I love double IPA's, am a total hop head, but I think exploring yeast in a big way is the Next Thing in craft beer. I love a beer I have trouble seeing through. This one is totally opaque equals complex/deliciious. Flavor is opaque, transparency is the lack thereof.
It's a little sweet, but IPA's always have been.

Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Thin swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, and grapefruit juice aromas. Taste is much the same with earth, candied citrus zest, and grapefruit juice flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has solid citrus forward hop qualities that are slightly better in the smell in my opinion.

Smells of lemon, pine and slight citrus. Instantly get the lemon, pine and grapefruit tastes with honey tastes and sweet bready malt s as well. It leaves a piney bitterness on the back of the tongue especially as it is warms.
This beer turns into an amazing beer as it warms as all the complexities come out. Sweet yet very hoppy this is what a double IPA should be. This one should get more attention.
