Drunk fresh at the source in the Forcheim Kellerwald in September 2023.
L: The beer was hidden inside an earthenware Krug, so it was difficult to see. It looked like beer... I think 3.75 is fair enough in the circumstances!
S: I'm not sure that the vessel was the best for gleaning a beer's aroma, but what I could detect was clean and fresh, like half-baked bread.
T: In the mouth, it tasted young and unfinished, which I suppose is the point with Kellerbiers. The taste was reminiscent of fresh-cut hay and linseed oil. The finish is quite minerally, as though something akin to methane was recently in the beer, and it's almost, but not quite, cleaned out. Coupling that impression with the linseed oil hint made the beer less enjoyable than I'd hoped.
M: Mild and fresh in the mouth.
O: Drinking a beer young means you're getting a product that would probably have evolved into something else over time. For some Kellerbiers, this works, for others, it doesn't. For mine, this one just misses the mark.
Cheers!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
