Picked up at Beiroteck, Bamberg. Unitemized receipt so price unknown. Reviewed 10/25/18.
Capped bottle marked by nicks at Tag 14 Monat 12 on the front label. Stored at room temperature in the brewery store, refrigerated in hotel reefer and consumed at reefer temperature in a hand washed and dried glass coffee mug.
Appearance – 4.25.
Body – Gold, clear.
Head – Large (Maximum 7.4 cm, aggressive center pour), off-white, creamy, average retention, diminishing to an irregular three to eight mm ring and complete layer.
Lacing – Good – Torn curtains of tiny bubbles.
First pour – Gold, clear.
Aroma – 4 - Caramel malt.
Flavor – 4.25 - Less caramel and more malt than the nose. Slightly sweet. Ends with an ephemeral hop bitterness. No alcohol (7.1 % ABV), no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 4.25 – Medium, creamy, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 4 – I guess the more I drink of these both vom Fass and from bottles, the more I realize that the average rating for these lagers will be much higher than their state-side spin-offs.

Pours a clear amber color with a huge, froth head.
Smells of toffee and hay, pretty muted on the nose with just a hint of herbs cutting through.
Has a soft mouthfeel, smooth but thin, with a low carbonation.
Tastes of toffee, rock sugar and molasses among a hint of straw. Turns a tad dryer after the swallow with dried herbs and a crackery maltiness. Finishes watery and sweet with lots of rock sugar.
Nice, a fuller Helles, not overly great balanced, heavy on the malts, tasty and sweet.

From the bottle, it pours a solid amber with a nice fluffy head. The head lasts a little while. The nose gets a bit of malt. The mouth revels in the same malt - light, pleasant and dangerous. Wow!
2018 Review - A slight aftertaste reduces the overall pleasantness. Hard to fathom - may need another bottle!
2026 update: yum!
