This was perhaps my favorite Ellersick Ale. In a word, it's fun. The beer looks like a porter - no strange purple hues - and tastes like a pale ale with wild blackberries. It even suggests a bit of rhubarb wine and reminds me of the old Hoodsport wines on the Hood Canal. It's unabashedly fruity with a light vinous back structure.

A beer of casual design with more alcohol than the taste suggests. But the tart acidity is a nice departure from the norm.

Had this on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery.

Appearance: rich amber brown with a finger of super creamy tan foam. Pretty good.

Smell: light aroma of malt and blackberry. Nice, but might be a bit too mild.

Taste: a very fresh blackberry flavor is the basis of this brew. Malt is light and sweet and complements the fruit well. Bitterness is low. If you like blackberries, this is a great beer.

Mouthfeel: medium light body with a very good creaminess. Quite nice.

Overall: a great example of a fruit beer. Tasty and drinkable, especially if you are a blackberry fan.

S: Nice, fresh blackberry on this

T: The blackberry was pretty good, fresh, beginning to end, some sweetness, refreshing, light booze

M: Light body, a bit effervescent, tasty

O: Probably my favorite beer here next to the Lager
