Picked this up at the Food Roundup in West Yellowstone, Montana when I was out that way a few months back. Never had anything from Flathead Lake before and why not start with something with huckleberry in it? Sure, this was a bit too one-dimensional for me but this was certainly enjoyable and quite easy to quaff!
Dark gold in hue with just a touch of purple to it, this was topped off with an uneven, frothy head. Most of the lacing that remained was concentrated in the middle of my pint glass in a thick and rocky ring. Loads of huckleberry and wheat in the nose, along with some spelt grain and turbid stone fruit as the taste closely followed suit. Dank in aroma, look, and taste, this had a bit too much syrup and not enough carbonation for me to rate any higher on here, but just the right amount of body, sweetness, and nuance to draw me in. The feel was indeed, a bit wild as the alcohol was low enough that I could have easily reached for another.
No date was to be found anywhere on the can as this held up well and didn't have anything floating in the liquid. Loved the label design as this would be something I'd reach for when going outdoors in Big Sky Country. Lots of fun to be had here for those into huckleberries or this style of beer!
