Originally brewed for Victoria Beer Week’s “Thunderdome 2015”, Master Blaster is now back to bring you all those fruity and funky flavors that Brettanomyces yeast are known for. This mixed culture brew also harnesses flavours from spicy Saison yeast to create a unique beer that will blast your taste buds off.

An all around good brew, but I was hoping for more Brett character.

Look: devoted head retention propped above a mellow golden orange body.
Smell: citrus hops becalmed by toasted sugars and peppers. Christmas cake, gentle lemon marmalade, and non-astringent pineapples wrapped in a wheat embrace. Sloppy, lackadaisical cereals chew gum and apply thin layers of nail polish while pondering whether or not to head back to work. Some inhalations drawn in a musty, leather bound alcohol.
Taste: lemons and unripe mandarin oranges threatening pungency but retreating into the friendliness of sweet flowers. The funk is quite tame, more of an early Sunday morning memory of funk than a Friday night full funk-out. Latent sugars and little licks of slick leather immediately precede a concluding dry, mouth-cleansing finish.
Aftertaste: a medium muscled bitterness lingers at the rear of the articulatory system.
Feel: smooth to the extent that the loveliness nearly slips back out through my lips.
Overall: a creamy, urban IPA courting a quaint country saison.

Swans Brewpub 'Master Blaster' @ 5.5% , originally brewed for VBW/Thunderdome'15 , served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $7
A-pour is gold from the bottle to a slight hazey dark gold in the glass with a medium size white head leaving a spotty lace along the chalice
S-brett-saison-ishh , big on the brett
T-funky & fruity , brettanomyces yeast , slight bitter dry mouthfeel
MF-ok carbonation , big medium body
Ov-ok tasting local saison , no wow factor
