A perfect initiation to our range of “real ales" this is truly an imperial product. We employ a hint of crystal malt accentuated by Golding & Fuggle hops, producing a light, slightly fruity & delightfully aromatic beer.

Bought a bottle from the Swans liquor store in Spring and opened it in November. Very mild aroma and delicate taste. Slightly bitter tones in the background but not much flavour. Perhaps I had it too cold

Verbatim from notes 16JUL11
Honey ale with brilliant clarity and no head, no surface foam. Sweet malt and a few eathy tones of hops. Some bland bitterness early with plenty of sweet malt. Super oxidzed. Mouth is a mod to heavy with lighter carb and slick finish. Overall wish there were some better hop applications here.

Served on tap at the brew-pub.
A: Typical pale ale appearance. Amber with a medium tan head. Decent lacing.
S: Flowery hops, a little sweetness.
T: Average pale ale. Hoppy, caramel.
M: Good carbonation, medium bodied.
Overall, this is just your average pale. Nothing to distinguish it from the myriad other offerings out there.

Mid gold with a nice frothy head this is an entry beer for Swan's ,ie. more like Ok Springs Pale Ale than A hoppy APA. The beer is slightly thin in the mouthfeel with some hops on the finish. I much preferred the Bitter due to the complexity and dryness. The malt in this beer is actually too strong at times which to me doesn't work with the style. Not one of their best.

Transluscent marmalade hue, not much in the way of a head. Caramel notes on the nose, hops don't leave much of an impression. The hops certainly take over in the flavour, leaving more of a caramel malt aftertaste in its wake. The mouthfeel is watery, which affects the delivery of the flavour. Really, an unimpressionable pale ale in the end. I enjoyed the company and the scenery more.

A better than average pale ale. Good amber appearance with a head that disappates quickly but clings to the side of the glass nicely. Bready malt smell with a hop presence that demands acknowledgment.
Well balanced taste. Hops are definitely noticeable, but the malt body is a force to be reckoned with. Yeast, toffee flavours...good hop bitterness plus some spice hints.
As others have said, there is nothing really wrong with this beer...it certainly isn't outstanding, but it has almost no negative points. A very good pale ale, and even in a bomber it still becomes a session ale.

A: Golden yellow, little head, no retention, but a little lace.
S: A little Northwest hop and bready malt.
T: Crisp bitterness, Northwest hop flavour, bready malt, British yeast fruityness.
M: Light to moderate body and carbonation.
D: Quite good, should appeal to the general public.

Cask at the brewpub. Darker golden with a nice head of casky foam. Aromas are all about the bready malts and UK hops. They meld together nicely as well. The taste is more about malt than hops as far as I am concerned, but it still works out nice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied cask smoothness, drinkability is quite good as well. All told, A Very authentic UK pale ale and quite a nice session quaffer.
