This beer continues yet another (!) brewery horizontal as I work to eradicate the Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody. I am thinking that these must have been part of a mixed-12 pack or a case at Country Garden Six Pack (CG6P) at one point & then they decided to single them out. No matter to me! I was happy to take one of each. I usually go lowest to highest in terms of ABV, but the first one was slightly out of turn due to the previous beer also being an Oktoberfest/Märzen. Please forgive my transgression as I get things back on track!

From the Bottle: "Unleash the Flavor"; "Ohio Brewed"; "This IPA invites you in with bright citrus notes that fall off into an earthy backdrop."; "60 IBUs"; "Ohio Craft Beer".

I was not really standing on ceremony at this point so I simply Pop!ped the cap & started a slow, gentle C-Line pour into the awaiting glass. This time, the two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head showed great retention, leaving a load of sticky lacing in its wake. Color was Amber to Deep-Amber/Light-Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Interestingly, the nose had a cool, earthy mintiness! It was much different from the mint of the previous beer, though. Here, it was like herbal mint, freshly picked in the garden while tilling of the soil was going on nearby. The earthy malts were a perfect accompaniment. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, on par for the style. The taste was very mellow, very minty, very earthy & once again, I was put in mind of hop tea. It kind of straddled the EIPA & AIPA styles, but it was better suited to be thought of as an AIPA. The earthy maltiness was veddy English, though. I was really liking it as I drank through it. It was hoppy without being tremendously bitter, making it more accessible to others since I have no problem with bitterness. Finish was semi-dry to dry, again going to its drinkability. I might have to se what is left, if anything, if/when CG6P reopens. YMMV.

A: The beer is very hazy orange yellow in color and has fine particulates visible floating in suspension along with a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose along with notes of piney hops.
T: The taste follows the smell, starting out with flavors of citrusy hops and finishing with notes of piney hops towards the finish. There is a moderate amount of carbonation.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA has an interesting contrast between citrusy and piney hops.

I saw this and thought it was an old style, but apparently not. The taste is somewhat old school anyway.

It looks to be yellowish with stuff suspended (note to self - maybe this glass is funky). The aroma is fainter than I would like but very nice. I floral undertone emits a little later.

This tastes like a suspended hop bomb. It's not real dank, but it is thick and sweet too - the malts make themselves known.

I'm not sure what to think of this other than I will need to drink some more to figure it out. Recommended.

Scarlet O'Hoppy brewed by Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, with an ABV of 6.30% This American IPA pours out a cloudy amber color with a nice thick white head. This is an unfiltered brew, you can not see though it. There is also a decent amount of lacing to this brew it sticks right to the side of the glass. The smell of Scarlet O'Hoppy is rich with hop bitterness, and citrus fruits flavors. You also pick up on some nice grains and malts in the smell of this American IPA. This brew has the look and some smells of most IPA's on the market, not saying that is a bad thing. Now for the taste, bold with flavors. You first pick up on the citrus and hop flavors. Then the nice mildness of grains and malts. There is a lot going on in Scarlet O'Hoppy. This American IPA has a super nice balance to it, there is nothing overpowering about this brew at all. I can't get over how smooth this brew goes down. If you are looking for a smooth hoppy IPA look this brew up. It is really hard to pick up on the 6.30% ABV in this brew. The mouth feel of Scarlet O'Hoppy is Hops, Citrus, Clean, Smooth and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving this American IPA a 4.50 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, did a real nice job with this brew.
