Paid the premium on this $4.50 for the single, at the House of 1,000 beers.
A - Nice 5 months old and no sediment! Head is a fairly sweet 1/3 inch of deep mocha greatness. Beer itself is rather thick with a deep level of blackness.
S - The honey adds another level of dry yet fairly sweet, underneath this is some mocha, chocolate malty goodness, and roast. Smells like a balanced RIS.
T - Pretty good the taste is chalky roasts, some chocolate malt, and a finish of dry faded honey. Hoppy bitter edge is kind of distracting and adds more of a dry feeling to the honey.
M - A touch lighter than typical RIS its medium bodied, fairly creamy yet kind of thin.
Overall not having a honey stout this one is fairly tasty. Nothing I am going to run out and get again (and at almost 5 bucks a pop I shall not) but worth trying once.

Thirsty Dog Brewing : Last Mayan Dog
Pours a sexy dark brown, with a creamy light tan topping. Lots of lacing, and overall looks the part of a stout. In the aroma, some roast, honey, coffee and vanilla. In the flavor, dark malts, tempered sweetness and a small cinnamon like spice. Coffee and honey come out a bit more in the aftertaste. Full bodied, creamy, very smooth feel. Overall this was quite nice. I could spend time drinking a few of these, but it appears this was a limited release.

The honey really comes on heavy at first here. It seems to tone down and a roasted, mildly sweet thing takes over. Don't get much chocolate on here really, but there is a cocoa tone mildly present. A decent beer; though not showing a whole lot of balance. Who cares though, right? We should all just be glad the world has not ended!

A - black with a soft, thick, brown head that has decent retention
S - sweet honey, some faint roasted malts, some faint cocoa
T - honey, roasted malts, cocoa nibs, creamy, some faint alcohol, some faint citrus
M - medium to full bodied, warm, well carbonated
Well, I like the concept even though I had this beer far after the end of the Mayan calendar. The flavor is far more honey than anything else. The underlying stout is nice but the sweetness of the honey and some faint citrus notes take away from the cocoa and roasted malt notes. I'm glad that I tried this once, but it's not a stout that I'll pick up again.
