Bottle. Clear amber with a thick frothy head. Effervescent.
Balanced aroma of caramel malt and leafy hops.
Toffee malt flavour again nicely balanced by the hops. Tobacco notes.
Moderate feel and body. Gentle carbonation.
Everything you could want from an English bitter.

Aroma's of nuts, Salt and vinegar crisps and malt.

Huge overwhelming malt tastes mingle with biting peppery yeast flavours creating a very slightly sour beer with hints of balsamic vinegar and a metallic tint

Three pints taken during a ‘Meet the Brewer’ evening at my local Wetherspoons. This amber bodied beer looks and tastes like a good quality British Best Bitter should; the aroma given off is predominately of hops, but malty esters are also in the mix.

The taste is a subtle caramel and toffee blend of malty molasses, a hop undertone of bitterness is there at first, but hides as the malts assert themselves. Leaning towards creamy, but quite getting there: it shouldn’t, it’s a Bitter not a Stout.

Very easy to drink, especially when the brewer is regaling stories of ‘dare doing’ and adventure while you attack his beer.

Tasted by a half pint at the Devonshire Cat, Sheffield, on 2 Aug. 07. Served by a handpump fitted w/ a sparkler.

A: bright hue of dark amber with a thin off-white foam that lasts very well; low in carbonation.
S: an enticing whiff of apple-ish aroma and caramely malts join force to produce a fruity and semi-sweet aroma; a swirl brings out red grapes, pears, and creamy malts and some sweet-citric hints. Overall the nose is very fruity and light.
T: a distinctive citric-sourness precedes an emerging wave of lightly-toasted & biscuity maltiness and nuttiness, then ensued by a dryish flow of herbal hop bitterness as well as chewy fruity undernotes; a soothingly roast-nutty bitterness as well as fresh spicy hops linger at the back, while a bready undernote helps keep a nice balance with the mixed bitterness.
M&D: balanced, well-structured, and softly-textured; the most enjoyable part of this beer is a constant flow of mildly sour hint gradually giving way to a nice bitter-sweet finish. This is a very decent bitter w/ reasonable complexities, but slightly too mild in terms of both flavour & aroma.
