From old, undated notes. Had this on draft at the brewery.

Black liquid.

Dark khaki head; thick lace.

Milk chocolate nose; inviting.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Chocolate flavor with a hint of raspberry! Surprising & tasty.

Had on tap at the Livery, review from notes.

A: Pours black with a small tan head on top, rather thick though (dense), that lasts for a while, eventually leaving a thin cap on top. Nice lacing down the sides.

S: Very oaty, smells like chocolate oatmeal really, with some roasted malt and a bit of pine and cream.

T: More pine upfront which transitions to some more oats, chocolate, and a little coffee. There is a bit of cream mixed in as well.

M: Medium bodied with low carbonation, very smooth and creamy.

O: A nice oatmeal stout, one of the beers I liked most from what I had at the Livery.

Handpull at the Liv. Black with a foamy tan head. Aroma bursting with toasted walnuts, licorice and coffee. Taste is roasted malt punctuated by citrusy hops. Long, lingering bitterness in the finish. Medium body with carb befitting of the sparkler. Tasty stout, this.

Nitro at the brewery. This arrived with a nice two finger tan head. The aroma of is of chocolate malts. There isn't much hop aroma for a dry malted brew. The flavor is spot on for a stout up front, sliding into a bitter, resiny finish. Mouthfeel is meaty but not thick, just like you want from a stout.

This is a great stout for those who like a bitter IPA, and is very sessionable, but will probably turn off the "I don't like hoppy beers" crowd.

Hand pull at the Livery.
Black pour, no light gets through. Nice frothy tan head.

Roast malt and oaty aroma. Also a noticeable hop presence.

Taste is roasty, malt, anise and oat again. Heavy piney hop from the dry hopping apparently. The herbal pine works very well with the anise. Finishes with some roast and oatiness.

Very smooth and creamy mid body. A great different take on the style.
