Tasted by half-pint at the Market Porter two weeks ago. Served from a handpump w/o a sparkler. Having no knowledge about "Cornelius", the pump clip kindly reminds me that he's (some kind of) "The Last Crusader"...
A: pours a dark, clear, and elegant russet-brown colour, a thin off-white beer head sits on top of a static body.
S: the flowery fragrance as of US hops mixes well with syrupy malts with touches of pear-drops, crystal malts and notes of caramel. Very pleasant, full of body.
T: mildly spicy and dried-leafy hoppyness dominate from the beginning, slowly transmitting a mild stream of sour-sweet, fruity as well as crystal maltiness... a good dryish backbone of hops at the tail, leaving a slightly rusty mouthfeel and an aftertaste of lightly burned apple-slices.
M&D: surprisingly refreshing, with that soft carbonation and smooth mouthfeel, yet light-bodied for its abv.; this premium bitter shows a healthy complexity to hook one's palate. All in all, a very enjoyable autumny strong bitter!
