No date on bottle. From Beer Cartel.

Pours a half finger head over a straw body. Head just dies.

Aromas of bananas, clove, yeast.

Taste is dull, flat, yeast driven. Bready doughy elements. More sweet macro than anything else.

Mouthfeel is under carbonated.

Oh dear. Bad Hefe. No zing, no refreshment no nothing.

I hope this is a bad bottle because this one undershot expectations. Thin, small head with an orange / borwn glow, a fraction cloudy. Citrus nose of orange peel and some confectionary sweetness. Firm and sharp in the mouth, borders of being tart, almost hard. Lacks the fruit character I would expect for the style although the orange notes persist.

330 ML bottle poured into a tulip glass...Thanks to Triple5 for the beer

A-- Poured a cloudy rusty color. Had a very short lived white head that became just a few clumps of white on the top of the beer. Not a really exciting look at all. Medium to high carbonation upon swirling the glass and getting the head back.

S-- Banana, clove, and cinnamon. Very strong and ripe banana smell.

T-- Strange to get a boozy taste right off the bat. Banana and clove also carry the taste but what is surprising is a very forward alcohol taste. Very carbonated taste.

M-- High carbonation and a touch creamy, there is a bit of spice to this. Either cinnamon or some nutmeg that carry over some spiciness to this. Really bitter for a wheat. Not what I expected at all and the alcohol taste is more evident in the mouth.

D-- Strange to get a beer that is listed at 5% and feels like it is bigger. Very alcoholic wheat. Done ok but the alcoholic feel is a buzz killer on this beer. A little too carbonated for my taste.

Appearance - 3.0
Sediment was compacted at the base of the bottle, so the beer was clear until the last inch was swirled and poured in. Two fingers of white head quickly reduced to a thin layer over a cloudy golden brown body.

Smell - 4.0
Spicy and complex, lightly fruity, big yeast character.

Taste - 4.0
Alcohol is immediately evident, not ideal for a beer that should be sessionable. Bready, doughy malt and dusty yeast with typical weizen notes of clove, mixed spice and lemon, with apple or pear fruitiness emerging with warmth. Low bitterness, soft and pleasant aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - 4.0
Fine and lively carbonation, smooth, although not as creamy as the best examples of the style.

Drinkability - 3.5
A good warmer weather beer, though not something I would seek out.

OVERALL - 3.75
A solid interpretation of one of my favourite styles.

Pale straw with a greyish tinge... weird looking... Large head fades to a persistent layer.
Massive amounts of overripe bananas in the aroma, with some cinnamon, wheat and light spicy hops in the background.
Flavours are tamer, wheat, some hops, the banana takes a back-seat. Bitterness is on the high side for the style.
Light body and carbonation.

Pours with a very cloudy appearance, light yellow in colour, very good head that sticks around. Great looking hefe.

Banana aromas, sweet and wheaty with a lot of fragrance. Par for the course really, but very pleasant.

Taste has a lot of sweet characters, nice bitterness towards the back and a light spice character. Fair amount of banana, taste is overall a little bit sweet for my liking, need more spice, the sweetness strangles everything. Feel is a bit thin and flat.

Drinkable though, and enjoyable.

This beer pours a mahogany, honey, cloudy colour with decent carbonation and on the nose you can smell bananna, cloves and aromatic aromas quite pleasant to the nose and on tasting you can taste beautiful wheat, bananna, clove and spicy aromas with hardly any hop taste at all which is just perfect for a wheat beer,in all a very nice wheat beer thats very easy to drink.

The best example of the style I've had from an Australian brewery so far. Yes, it's different to the german wheat beers, but I think of it as having Red Hill's own style stamped on it.

Picked up some bottles as well, and it's still good, but not as nice as the pint I had at the brewery.

This pours a cloudy pale golden with one finger of head which quickly drops.

Expected wheat and banana aromas with a touch of pepperiness as well.

Banana and spiciness continue in the mouth.

Quite high carbonation gives it a nice mouthfeel.

This is very refreshing and would be very sessionable on a warm day.

Cloudy as expected so that the very fine bead is just visible. The head persisted only on the perimeter of the beer.
The smell was of over ripe fruit.
The taste ast best is a suppression of the wheat beer style. There is just a touch of acridity and the vague fruitiness is more berry than banana.
There was a real taste of home brewing about this beer so I wonder if the yeasts in this bottle had gone awry.
The mouthfeel was good balance body and bitterness.
Red Oak make better beers and have a better reputation than this beer demonstrates but I have to admit to disappointment

a: cloudy yellow color with attractive head that slowly settles to thin veil, very bubbly nice lacing
s: banana aromas very strong with some flowery hints
t: yeast - banana flavors dominate again with some with some well-balanced maltiness, finishes with minor bitter hops
m: lots of carbonation, medium body, smooth
d: very solid effort from the red hill folks, great balance, easy to drink

A - Cloudy & dark straw in appearence with a dense inch or so of white head.
S - Banana no doubt from the yeast, dominates. Some faint spice notes are in there too.
T - Again banana and light spice with some tartness to balance the wheat malt.
M - Fairly highly carbonated with a medium mouthfeel.
D - Pretty solid brew that would make a great summer sessioner.

Beautiful pale cloudy honey-lemon yellow with a frothy rocky head of pure white. Decent carbonation to keep the head alive. Very good looking hefe-styled beer.

Nose is excellent. Sweet banana clove esters, beautiful counterpointed against a zesty citrus Tettnanger hoppiness. Hints of organic grassiness. This is a genuine hefeweizen nose, comparable to the archetypes of the style.

Taste is also very very good, and beautifully true to style. A delicious sweet flavour of tropical fruits on the front palate, backed up by a subtle peppery aromatic hop characteristic, which finishes dry and refreshing. Mouthfeel is spritzy but buttery smooth.

What a wonderful brew. A true hefe, and a damn good one at that. I don't think I've seen a better example outside Germany, and this would hold its own against the best of them.
