Served a Happy Hour Schooner at the Brewpub in a chilled (but not frosted) 32 oz glass for $5CAN. This is a pretty generic red ale. It does have a nice color - deep reddish with burnt orange hilights. The aroma has some definate caramel and mollasses to it, but no real hops or sharpness like some red ales. Taste is somewhat sweet, lots of maltiness with more caramel and brown sugar evident. Again, no real hops or bitterness to balance it out. Dry finish that leaves some sweetness in the aftertaste. Most similar to Rickards Red. Only available on tap at the brewpub.
