Tasted by a pint at the AsiaWorld branch of Le Ble d'Or, Taipei; served chilled by a growler.
A: deeply dark brown in colour, quite murky as it is apparently unfiltered; the beige froth retreats rather fast on top of a lightly carbonated body.
S: dark chocolates, nuttiness, backed by a rather mild bitter edge of roastiness; constantly at the back is a tinge of lager-sourness. Not pretty colourful overall, but all the essential ingredients of a Dunkel are faithfully replicated here.
T: it tastes more like a stout than a dunkel at first, with a pretty pronounced and tasty bitter-sweet roastiness upfront; then leading fast towards a chocolatey and roast-nutty aftertaste before turning mildly dry with a sour tinge of lager, just like a dunkel should show in the finish.
M&D: softly carbonated and refreshing, showing a pretty moderate body and balanced profile overall. Again, like the hefe-weissbier, this one stands out as a decent product, and pretty drinkable too!
