Mississippi Fire Ant Imperial Red Ale has a thick, beige head, a semi-opaque reddish-brown appearance, and heavy lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is of rich, sweet, bready malt, with a nice bursting hop aroma traveling along side. Taste is of the same, with a touch of pine oil. The 80 IBUs don’t come along so strong, being balanced out by sweetness and alcohol strength. Mouthfeel is heavy and somewhat slick, and Mississippi Fire Ant Imperial Red Ale finishes semi-dry and delicious.

Served in frosted mug at Mugshots in Meridian. Nice amber-brown with one fingered head that dissipates quickly.

Smell is malts and hints of chocolate.

Taste is sweet chocolate malt with nice hoppy bitterness that comes in late.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice carbonation.

Overall this was better than I expected. Very similar to a barlywine for me. I hope they really haven't retired this.

Poured from a growler into a pint glass

A: Dark amber. A tan half-finger head that dissipates fast. Some lacing.

S: Grapefruit, malts, cinnamon.

T: A malt/hop blend that bites you on the leg multiple times. Cinnamon slides in for a sweet surprise. A dry, hoppy finish that lingers.

M: Medium with light to medium carbonation. Semi-dry.

O: Smooth, sessionable. Better as it warms.
