Man in the Moon is a Belgian-style Saison (Season ale) that is golden amber in color and bursting with flavor. Brewed with an assortment of citrus peel and secret spices, and fermented with a specialty Belgian yeast, these flavors combine with the malt to produce a dry, moderately strong, highly drinkable concoction.

On tap at the source.
Hazy orange amber color with a minimal head. Earthy spicy light citrus hop not bad. A bit heavy on the spice additions for my liking, but better than the other saison they had on tap.

On tap at Milly's Tavern on December 20, 2012.

The pour is copper orange with a foamy, silky head that lingers until the end.

There was a lot of aroma before I even put it to my nose. The aroma was of nectarines or citrus and pale malts. Their description says they used "secret spices." I think the secret spice is Rosemary because that was what my nose noted.

The body was creamy and smooth and about medium.

The taste begins with pale malts with a moderate bitterness bringing up the rear.

Met the always-lovely Alewife yesterday at Milly's for lunch, and opted to try a little Saison action.

A 16oz shaker pint was filled with a clear, medium-golden concoction. Carbo was minimal, as was the lacing and head (some wispy white bubbles, mostly rim-clingers). Smell has a little rindy citrus, with hints of spiciness. Overall, aroma was mild. Body was medium, no more - no less. Lightly prickly on the tongue, overall mouthfeel was solid.

Has an interesting melange of flavors. Has some light notes suggestive of a Jägermeister-type bite, along with some subtle orange peel. There's some definite spiciness going on here, though the amalgam is a myriad of things I can't quite put my finger on. Restrained fruitiness lurks in the background, with the spicy character taking the lead role. Overall, a decent brew, though not close to the upper echelon of Saisons. Prosit!!

The beer was served in a pint glass. It had a hazy gold color and a small white head that still left a bit of lacing. It had a sweet orange aroma as well as a bit of yeast. Orange and clove taste. The beer was quite refreshing and went down very easily. Will have this again next time.

Enjoyed with the brewer at the brewpub. Completely new saison by current brewer, using Belgian Y-yeast. Unfiltered, soft mouthfeel. White pepper and cardemon give it an edginess. Light colour and you can see the carbonation bubbles. One of the better ones that is sure to go quickly.
