Appearance - Almost black with a thin head.
Smell - A great combination of mocha and alcohol.
Taste - Simply amazing. A strong mocha like taste, created mostly by roasted malt.
Mouthfeel - Excellent aftertaste, good texture.
Drinkability - Very drinkable for a 6.3% porter.
Overall - The best porter I have ever tasted. Just brilliant.

I am reviewing this as a follow-up to my earlier review, 07-31-2006. I have held a few back, to see what a little bit of age does to the ale.
A: dark & brooding. Some ruby clarity through the stem of the glass. Frothy tan head.
S: iced coffee. Some subtle rusty notes. There is a certain "hollow" maltiness, which reminds me of my beers that I have cellared for a while. Perhaps a sign of some age.
T: Creamy, roast coffee. Subtle perfumy notes. There's a charry after taste, and a dusty bitterness.
M: Still rich, full, long.
O: A great beer still. There are some subtle signs of degradation... but not to the overall detriment of the experience.
